Best Dog Breeds For People Who Work from HomeRecent events have changed the world of work. One of the major changes is the increase of those who work from home. As long as one has a laptop, a phone, and an internet connection, that individual can log in forty (or more) hours right in the comfort of home.

Working from home has its perks, such as the ability to work in one's comfy clothes. More introverted folks may truly enjoy working from home as they can be productive without interruptions from co-workers.

One definite perk regarding working from home is the ability to have a furry companion at our side as we work. Certainly, there are many who wished for a four-legged friend but wouldn't bring a furbaby home because of long hours logged in at the office. Working from home means that you are never too far from Fido, and you can plan doggy walks while taking your own work breaks.

So, now that you're home during the day, the real conundrum manifests itself - just what type of dog is best for my work-from-home lifestyle? Let's take a look at six breeds that make great workday (from the home office) companions.

1. The Siberian Husky

The Siberian Husky is a large dog that requires a moderate amount of grooming and maintenance to be a happy, healthy pup. The Husky is also rather active, so you'll need to make sure to plan a little play time while you're on lunch break. To be sure, you'll never spend too much time at your desk with a Husky in your home. These dogs have high energy, and they'll need a good bit of exercise time on a daily basis.

If you're going to be working from home and you want a dog breed that will help to keep you active, then the Husky is a great breed to consider.

2. The Golden Retriever

If you're concerned that working from home is going to make you less active or less likely to go outdoors, then consider the Golden Retriever. The Golden Retriever never meets a stranger! Plus, if you've considered a high energy dog like the Husky and found that breed to be a little too energetic, the Golden Retriever offers just the right amount of puppy pep without needing constant playtime opportunities. However, if you find yourself wanting to toss a ball to the Goldie when you're bored at work, then he'll gladly play right along!

The Golden Retriever is highly likely to enjoy short, fifteen minute breaks of play time outdoors, then he'll park it right beside your computer desk and take a nap or just simply enjoy being by your side while you work.

3. The Maltese

The Maltese is a great lap dog and a loving companion. This small dog will need maintenance as far as grooming goes, but this dog only requires one short, brisk walk a day.

The Maltese is just the right size to be in your lap as you type away, take important calls, or take care of other work tasks. She'll also enjoy simply being in your presence when you're working.

4. The Pug

If you need a dog that will be, well, a little lazy during the work day while you are getting it all done, the Pug is the perfect work-from-home dog.

You can start the Pug's day with a short stroll around the neighborhood or in your backyard and a healthy breakfast, and Mr. Pug is ready for a nap. Yep, the Pug has a reputation for being relatively calm and, well, lazy.

The Pug is a dog that should be kept indoors. That's because Pugs have a shortened snout that can make breathing in hot, humid air very difficult. Therefore, he'll never need long, strenuous jogs around the block. In fact, when you take a fifteen minute break from the computer, you can take your Pug out for a quick break. Within minutes, he'll likely be right back at your feet snoring away.

Pugs don't need a lot of grooming, and they don't shed much. They are loving companions who really just want to spend time near you.

5. The English Bulldog

Do you want a companion that will serve as a bit of a guardian? Consider the English Bulldog. This dog appears intimidating, and he can be stubborn. However, the English Bulldog is generally a big baby. They do not need much in the way of daily exercise. A brisk walk in the early morning or late afternoon provides the English Bulldog with all the exercise he'll need in a day.

Bulldogs like to be close to their humans. Your English Bulldog will likely spend the bulk of her day napping near your work station.

Working from home has many perks, including one that is quite unexpected - the ability to spend maximum time with a pet.
